Editor's take on Carbon Aware KEDA Operator

Fits Kubernetes platform teams already running KEDA that want a low-risk way to make batch or ML workloads carbon-aware without touching application code: a custom resource caps replica counts by grid intensity and leaves desired replicas to KEDA and the autoscaler. The trade-off is that it sets a ceiling rather than scheduling to the cleanest hour, the effect depends on the configured intensity data source, and it only helps workloads that can flex. No measurement is included, so savings need separate monitoring. Teams without KEDA, or with latency-sensitive workloads, should not start here.

Editor's take on PowerAPI

Built for teams that need power figures at application, container, virtual machine, process or code level without adding physical meters, using software-defined estimators with pluggable estimation, storage and export actors. The trade-off is modelling: numbers come from software estimation rather than direct metering, so accuracy depends on the estimator plugin and the platform support chosen, and assembling and operating the actor pipeline is real engineering work. It stops at power; carbon intensity, reporting and dashboards are out of scope. Organisations wanting turnkey metering or audited emissions should pair it with other tools.
